Imagine going to a restaurant in a totally foreign language. You are highly allergic to shellfish. Fortunately the menu has photographs of the dishes. In trying to communicate to your waiter, you point to shrimp, lobster and scallops on the illustrated menu, shaking your head and saying “No” at each one.
But in this culture, they don’t shake their head to mean “no” and the waiter doesn’t understand. He thinks you’re asking for what you’re pointing to. There’s not a mixed platter on the menu but you were emphatic in pointing to three types of shellfish. So the waiter arranges with the chef to prepare a big shellfish combination platter especially for you.
This is what it feels like to some people when they try to create their own reality. They think they’re explaining to Law of Attraction exactly what they want, and then what they don’t want shows up.
Let’s explore 3 aspects of what’s going on when we “place an order” with Law of Attraction:
- Thoughts don’t attract; our vibration is what attracts
- Our emotions tell us if we’re vibrating in alignment with what we want or in discord to what we want
- Here’s how to “speak” Law of Attraction’s language
1. Thoughts don’t attract, our vibration is what attracts
Words and thoughts don’t attract but they are directly tied to what does attract, which is our emotions. You’ll also hear emotions referred to as our feelings, our vibration or our energy. They are all synonyms in this context. We have emotions in response to our thoughts.
So while our thoughts and words are not communicating to Law of Attraction, the way we feelabout those thoughts is sending a message. Our thoughts don’t attract. It’s how we feel about our thoughts that attracts. Those feelings are also a big clue to whether we’re attracting what we want or not.
2. Our emotions tell us if we’re vibrating in alignment with what we want or in discord to what we want
If we’re feeling good, we’re attracting more things that feel good. If we’re complaining, we’re attracting more things to complain about. Our emotions are equivalent to what our energy is “saying.” Law of Attraction isn’t listening to our words, it’s “listening” to our energy. When we change our emotion, we change what we’re telling Law of Attraction to bring to us.
3. Here’s how to change what’s manifesting
First we need to figure out what we’re “telling” Law of Attraction; we do this by identifying our emotions. Sometimes we’re so used to an emotion that we’re oblivious to it. For example, many people consider stress to be a normal state of affairs. Stress is a negative emotion, but many people are oblivious to that because they are used to feeling stressed. To them, it’s not negative, it’s normal.
When we feel that something is normal, it’s not like we’re doomed to suffer forever. Law of Attraction is always bringing us more of whatever we’re vibrating — and at some point the negative emotion will get big enough that it no longer feels normal.
One way or another we reach a decision point
We reach a point where we decide to do something about our negative emotion. Abraham has given us processes, which are ways to shift our energy, usually by changing our thoughts to ones that feel better.
When we do the processes, we purposely choose different thoughts in order to change (improve) our emotions. This is why “think and feel” is so important. And why being authentic is so important. And why we’re looking to feel better even if we can’t get to feeling great right now.
If the Law of Attraction is responding to how you feel, why can’t it tell what you really don’t want?
Sometimes it seems like Law of Attraction is really stupid if it can’t figure out that when you feel bad it’s because you don’t want that thing. But Law of Attraction isn’t Source Energy or our Higher Self. Law of Attraction is just a law, like gravity. All Law of Attraction does is bring similar things together. It works faster and more impressively when the emotion is stronger.
It doesn’t care whether the strong emotion is strong positive emotion or strong negative emotion. Just as at the restaurant in the foreign language, if we had said, “Yes, yes!” while pointing to the shellfish, we’d have gotten the same nice big platter. Law of Attraction matches what we’re focused on, and the intensity of our focus.
Times when you feel like Law of Attraction isn’t delivering what you ordered…
Stop and remember that we’re not attracting through our thoughts and words. We’re asking through our vibration. Our emotions tell us if we’re vibrating in alignment with what we want or in discord to what we want. The way to “speak” Law of Attraction’s language is to choose thoughts that feel better. The Abraham Processes are a great way to shift our vibration.
