The Universe calls us by name
Or initials. Here’s how it’s worked for me.
The first time I went to the Tasting Room restaurant, I felt like I’d walked into an alternate reality.
There were my initials, big and bold on their front door.
While I was waiting for my meal, the server brought bread and butter.
My initials were on the butter too
I felt like I was in Club TR. And, oh, hey — I was. The back of the bar manager’s business card literally says Club TR.
Finding a restaurant stamped with my initials was totally fun and entertaining.
But the Universe has called my name in a practical way as well
It happened when I was newly returned to the Washington area 20-some years ago.
One day I was driving from Virginia (on one side of Washington) to visit my sister in Maryland (on the other side of Washington).
I took the beltway.
The beltway is a highway that is a ring road around Washington. This was the route I was familiar with.
The trouble was, there was construction ahead and the beltway was a parking lot that day.
Not sure of the other roadways, I took an exit
It put me on a parkway that seemed to be going in the right general direction. At that point, anything was better than getting stuck on the beltway.
But now I didn’t know which exit to take from this parkway.
It all looked unfamiliar
There was some construction going on here too.
In one construction area there was a spray-painted sign on the side of the road saying, “TR EXIT HERE.”
TR? That’s me
So I took the exit. It put me on a bridge that took me to Constitution Avenue, and I knew the way to my sister’s house from there.
Later I learned that I had crossed the Theodore Roosevelt Bridge, hence the “TR” on the hand-painted sign.
Like Theodore Roosevelt, I do not have a middle name
The fact of having no middle name might make it easier for initials to pop up for me.
But if not your initials, there’s some other personal way that the Universe is speaking to you, whether with guidance or just for fun.
Keep an eye open for your own special version of Club TR.
