The Myth of Staying In The Vortex

When you clean the house, in one sense you say, “Oh, good, I’m done. The house is clean.” But in another sense, you don’t expect the house to stay clean. You know you’ll track in dirt, and there’ll be dust, and you’ll cook and make a mess in the kitchen. You know you’ll have to keep cleaning the house.

It’s like that with energy and alignment. We clean up our energy. We get aligned. That’s called being in the Vortex. But then we get sloppy with our thinking. Or circumstances get a little crazy. And suddenly we’re out of the Vortex.

We forget that it’s as normal to be out of the Vortex as it is for our house to get dirty. We’re disappointed in ourselves for not staying in the Vortex.

Well, it turns out that “staying in the Vortex” is a myth

Let’s take a closer look at this, shall we? What we’re going cover is:

1. No one stays in the vortex

2. Our outages will become shorter

3. The “bottom” won’t be as low

1. No one stays in the vortex

Just as our houses keep getting dirty, likewise we all get thrown out of the vortex on a regular basis. Abraham has said that even if we stay at contentment, we will eventually get bored. And boredom is out of the vortex.

But we’re not thinking about boredom when we speak through clenched teeth about wanting to get in the vortex and stay there.

We’re at a much lower vibration at those times

It rankles because we’ve been at a higher vibration. We know we can do it. We’re just not doing it now.

Esther has those times too

Think of all the stories Abraham tells about Esther being out of the vortex.  (And when you get thrown out of the Vortex, remember that you’re in good company!)

Of course, just as Esther does, you’ll get back in the Vortex. If you keep getting back in the vortex when you find yourself out, you’ll notice that you start getting back in more quickly.

2. Our “outages” get shorter

As we clean up our energy on a subject, we’ll still get tossed out of the vortex but we won’t stay out for quite as long. Just as when we keep up with the spills and dust on a regular basis, it doesn’t take as long to clean our house.

And our house needs a deep cleaning less frequently when we keep up with things. Likewise, our energy will start to stay “cleaned up” longer. We’ll start staying in the Vortex longer when we get back in.

Alignment is not a straight trajctory

Cleaning up our energy is something of a “ten steps forward, six steps back” kind of progression. As soon as we get traction with aligning our energy, we move forward those “ten steps.”

Then, inevitably, we’re thrown out out of the Vortex. But we only fall back six steps. We’ve made some progress.

3. When we hit bottom, that “bottom” won’t be as low

Sure, we fall back down the emotional scale when we’re out of the vortex. But you’ll notice that, on the subject you’ve been working on, you don’t drop down as far anymore.

Let’s say you used to regularly feel powerless and depressed on a subject, and now you’re disappointed and frustrated. Disappointment and frustration don’t feel good, so it’s hard to feel like that’s a success. But if you were depressed before then that shows considerable progress.

Keep up the work you’re doing on that subject, and you’ll start to move up the emotional scale more quickly. What you’re doing with that work is what Abraham calls “practicing getting back in the vortex” on that subject.

Knowing how to get back up is the magic of this work

Remember, we’re not learning how to stay in the Vortex on a subject. We’re practicing how to get back in the Vortex when we get knocked out.

When we get solid in our ability to get back in the vortex on a subject, we become almost bulletproof. Sure, when we get hit hard enough we’ll still get knocked over. But the thing is, now we know how to get up again.

That is, we know how to do it on that subject

Then another subject will come along and throw us out of the vortex again. It would be like keeping the house consistently clean and then getting a dog. The level of cleaning we’ve been practicing is no longer sufficient.

When new contrast shows up, we get thrown out of the Vortex. But now we don’t get mad at ourselves for not staying in the Vortex. Instead, we do our work and get back in.

What if that hasn’t been happening?

What if we’re staying out of the vortex longer, and staying in less? That’s when it’s time to take a different approach with your Grid Work. I recommend asking the Universe for direction and then promising to follow the impulse that you get (because the Universe will answer you).

Summary

The idea of staying in the Vortex is a myth. No one stays in the vortex, not even Esther. But when you do your work on a subject, you’ll find yourself staying in the Vortex longer on that subject. When you’re thrown out, you won’t stay out as long as you used to. And when you hit bottom, that “bottom” won’t be as far down as it used to be.

Before long, you’ll have solid skills in getting back in the Vortex on that subject. And then there’ll be new contrast for you to practice on.

Before, I would pull out a notebook and write down appreciations, do a focus wheel (with a circle in the middle and the 12 spokes), and play with the alphabet game. I usually worked with process when I was wanting to feel better about something. I kept telling myself that I’d write everyday

Nurse, Alexandria, VA

Really the only process I did prior to this was appreciations and occasionally “what if.”

I really enjoyed doing the processes [during this program]. I had read about the focus wheel, but had found it rather confusing. I liked the way Teresa presented it and found it to be really helpful in moving energy.

About Teresa

I began listening to Abraham CDs on a daily basis in late 2003 (still do). Within a few months, however, I had to admit a vast chasm between getting the concepts intellectually, and actively living them.

This desire to put the Law of Attraction into action is what drew me to the meetups, as well as to working with coaches myself.
